Admin Menu/General Settings
The main menu of the administration page shows the router’s current status, including internet status, security level, clients connected, USB connections, wireless status and more.
AiMesh is one of the main selling points of Assu’s routers. It’s an innovative feature that connects multiple ASUS routers to create a whole-home WiFi network. It’s a powerful and flexible way to solve your WiFi problems that also makes the most of your existing hardware: you can mix different ASUS router models, so when you upgrade there’s no need to throw away your old router — you can use it to expand your AiMesh network!
You can also enable/disable guest network with ease, for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi.
A big feature of the router is AiProtection. It incorporates state-of-the-art, three-pronged security from the Trend Micro Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) engine, gives you enterprise-level security in the home — making ASUS routers equipped with these features the most secure home routers. AiProtection constantly monitors the security and safety of your home network for total peace of mind.
This is interesting. The Adaptive QoS menu allows user to adjust apps category priority depending on their home networking scenario by drop and drag way. It ensures inbound and outbound bandwidth on both wired and wireless connections for prioritized applications and tasks via pre-defined, drag-and-drop presets: gaming, media streaming, VoIP, web surfing and file transferring.
Traffic analyzer displays a visual graph of the network traffic, and shows how the network is used by which devices or apps.
Open NAT menus is a hassle free way to create port-forwarding rules for online games. While Game profile menu include built-in rules for popular games. All settings optimize routing packets to give you an optimized gaming experience.
USB application menu is quite interesting. You can plug a host of USB devices and configure it your liking.
AiCloud menu allows you connect external USB storage devices so that you can stream and share content through your internet-connected PCs.
Advanced Settings
On page 1 of the Advanced Settings, you and set your wireless settings, frequency (2.4GHz/5GHz), channel bandwidth, WPA encryption, enable/disable Wifi 6 (802.11ax).
LAN menu, allows you to set your LAN settings for local ethernet connections and DHCP.
WAN menu is for setting your internet connection, ISP, NAT, logins (if any), port forwarding, Dual WAN etc.
Alexa menu allows you connect the Amazon Alex to the router and also set up voice commands so that you can control the router. Interesting.
More Advanced Settings
You also get a menu for setting up IPv6, VPN and firewall. Supported VPN protocols include PPTP, OpenVPN and IPSec VPN.
Firewall settings allow you to set firewall rules, enable/disable DoS protection, URL filter, and more.
And finally, we have the administration menu for router maintenance, firmware upgrade, set the router’s operation mode, and more. You can also check the router’s system logs for debugging and diagnostics.
Lastly, we’ve got network tools such ping, netstat, wake on LAN, and smart connect rules.
