Here’s what the adapter looks like with a GoPro Hero 4 mounted. The bracket does not get in the way on the lens, and both the small LCD screen and the front of the GoPro and the power button are still very easily accessible.
Here’s what the adapter looks like mounted on the DJI Osmo Mobile.
You will notice that the PGY GoPro adapter does not sit flush against the ‘bottom’ of the smartphone holder. The holder gripped the adapter tightly so you needn’t worry about your action camera sliding out.
In action, videos recorded on the GoPro was still smooth but did have the tendency to slowly ‘float’ about; the GoPro would slowly pan in a directional which required a quick adjustment on the DJI Osmo Mobile panning controls to correct. This stems from the adapter to be still a little too light for the DJI Osmo Mobile and will need a little extra weight for added stability. As mentioned previously, the adapter does not sit flush against the ‘bottom’ of the holder, so there’s ample room to add extra weight here.
Of course, as you will be using your action camera to record the video you will lose out on the DJI App features such as face detection, but you get added functionality for your handheld gimbal. At just USD$25 this cheap accessory opens up an entirely new method of shooting move videos.

25$ for piece of adapter isn’t cheap 🙂 But thanks for showing it. I need to find something like that.
Hero 5 doesn’t balance properly before powering up the osmo mobile. Wouldn’t trust the loading on the osmo gimbal motors
is this compatible with SJCAM 5000x or 5000 series camera ? Can you please check and reply below
