Corsair RM1000x ATX 3.1 Fully Modular Power Supply Review

Conclusion and Verdict

Corsair are well known for making great power supplies and updated Corsair RM1000x ATX 3.1 PSU continues that tradition. For those who didn’t know … the original Corsair RM1000x PSU was launched way back in 2015, with a new revision in 2021. It’s now 2024, and Corsair have launched their latest and most up-to-date version of the Corsair RM1000x PSU supporting ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.0 standards.

Like the original Corsair RM1000x , the new version offers the same protection as before, which includes OVP (Over Voltage), UVP (Under Voltage), SCP (Short Circuit),OTP (Over Temp) and OPP (Over Power).

The Corsair RM1000x ATX 3.1 PSU is rated 80 PLUS Gold for excellent power efficiency, and features a powerful +12V single rail @ 83.3A, giving you a total power output of up to 1000W.

The power supply uses 100% industrial-grade, 105°C rated Japanese electrolytic capacitors. And what’s more, you also get an impressive 10 year warranty, which means you’ll get total peace of mind.

You also get excellent cooling thanks to the large 135mm fan with magnetic levitation bearing, and features a custom engineered rotor for high performance, low bearing noise, and superior reliability. Interestingly, the new Corsair RM1000x comes with a unique manual fan override knob, which allows more air flow through the PSU by overriding the Zero RPM mode.

During our tests, we installed the Corsair RM1000x on to our test rig which is comprised of an Intel Core i9-14900K processor and has a Turbo Boost TDP of 253W+, along with the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER with a TBP of up to 320W. At 100% load, just these two components alone consumes well over 597+ Watts.

At full load, the +12V line was rock solid at +12.00V with no drops at all during full load. For the +5V line, again it was very stable with only a slight drop from +5.060V to +5.00. No worries at all. As for the +3.3V line, it did drop ever so slightly from +3.298V to +3.28V, which is negligible.

You can buy the Corsair RM1000x Fully Modular ATX 3.1 Power Supply for around USD $189 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/48V7EnB
