Conclusion and Verdict
As far as I’m aware, Corsair is the first and only manufacturer that produces power supplies that features side mounted power connectors. It’s a very unconventional but innovative way of connecting all your modular power cables to your PC components.
It’s great for dual chamber chassis and cases, plus it make it easier to connect and manage your cables without fumbling around.
To guarantee stability and power efficiency, the power supply is 80 Plus GOLD certified and uses 100% industrial-grade, Japanese electrolytic capacitors rated up to 105°C. And what’s more, you also get a massive 10 year warranty, which means you’ll get peace of mind.

For our tests, we installed the PSU on to our test rig which is comprised of an Intel Core i9-14900K processor and has a Turbo Boost TDP of 253W+, along with the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER with a TBP of up to 320W. At 100% load, just these two components alone consumes a lot of power.
During our AIDA64 full load tests, the +12V line was rock solid at +12.0V with no fluctuations at all. For the +5V line, again it was rock solid with no drops detected, and remined at +5V. However, for the +3.3V line, it did drop ever so slightly from +3.296V to +3.280V. That said, it’s only a minute drop and nothing to be concerned about.
From the results above, I have to say the Corsair RM1000x SHIFT is an extremely solid power supply, that will definitely satisfy the needs of most enthusiasts and power users. You can literally throw any power-hungry components at it … without having to worry whether the PSU can handle it or not.
The included flat white modular cables are nice, and matches with any all-white themed PC builds. There’s plenty of spare cables to satisfy your cabling requirements. All the cables feature Corsair’s Type 5 Gen1 connector. It’s smaller than your standard PCIE power connectors, which means you have to buy/source spare ables directly from Corsair.
There’s no RGB or any ECO fan switch on the PSU, but it does come with a large 140mm cooling fan with fluid dynamic bearing and Zero RPM mode. This allows for silent operation and the fan will stop spinning when the system is idle or under low load.
You can buy the Corsair RM1000x SHIFT 80 PLUS Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply for around USD $219 (reduced to $188) from Amazon – https://amzn.to/3wAq7XS
