Corsair SF1000 Platinum ATX 3.1 Power Supply Review

Packaging

Inside the box, you’ll find the the power supply itself, a power cord for the wall, a bunch of Type-5 modular power cables, a bag of cable ties with mounting screws,  3 velcro straps for cable management, and one ATX mounting bracket. (iPhone NOT included 😀 used for size comparison)

The Cables

The modular cables feature Corsair’s Type 5 Gen1 connector. It’s smaller than your standard PCIE connectors you normally find on most power supplies.

Cables include:

  • 1 x Modular ATX Cable (24-pin)
  • 2 x EPS / ATX 12V 8-pin (4+4) for motherboard
  • 4 x PCIe 8-pin (6+2) for PCIE devices/components
  • 1 x 12VHPWR (12+4) pin for GeForce RTX 40 series. Rated up to 600W
  • 1 x SATA (4 Straight SATA)
  • 1 x SATA (4 Right SATA)
  • 1 x PATA (3 PATA) Molex

A Closer Look

The PSU comes in a SFX form factor and measures 100 x 125 x 63.5 mm in dimension. It’s really tiny. You can check out the size comparison between the PSU and my iPhone in the photo below.

As you can see from the label, the PSU features a powerful +12V single rail at 83.3A which gives you a maximum power output of up to 1000W.

The package includes a ATX mounting bracket, and this allows you to install the SF1000 to any mid-tower or full size ATX case. Yes, this tiny SFX PSU is powerful enough to power the most demanding hardware with ease!

For cooling you’ll find a 92mm fan with fluid dynamic bearing, and comes with the Zero RPM mode. This allows silent operation, and the fan will stop spinning when the system is idle or under low to medium load.

Installation

For our tests, we installed the PSU in to the Corsair 2500X Mid-Tower dual chamber case. Using the included ATX mounting bracket, the power supply fitted perfectly with no issues at all. To power the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER we used the included 16-pin 12VHPWR cable (which is rated up to 600W).

I just can’t believe there’s so much space inside the case. The braided modular cables can be easily folded and managed using the included velcro straps.

My only concern is that the 24-pin ATX power cable and the 16-pin (12+4) 12VHPWR power cable for the GPU was a little too short for a mid-tower/full tower case.
