The package and its contents
The PSU arrived in a retail package which is typical for PSUs box. The package is well-designed and shares a similar aesthetics to other new Deepcool products. The main specifications are all described on the package, so we don’t need any additional paper manuals or documentation. All the specifications are available on the product website too.
The package includes a power supply, modular cables, a user guide, screws, cable stripes, and a power cord. Simply, everything we need for the installation.
The PSU’s aesthetics are for sure eye-catching. I wouldn’t be surprised if the external design were the main reason why many users decided on Deepcool PSUs, even though what’s inside is more important.
The exterior is painted black, and it’s scratch-resistant. Of course, there are limits, but at least after installation, there won’t be anything visible. The paint job looks better in real than in the attached pictures.
On the back, we will find a power switch and a Hybrid Mode switch. As far as the power switch is obvious, then the Hybrid one is designed to switch between semi-passive mode and active mode. Since the PSU is not heating much, then we recommend the Hybrid mode as the fan will spin less, gather less dust, and live longer.
The PX1000G is a fully-modular PSU. It means that we can use as many cables as we need and skip additional ones to save space in the PC case. It helps in cable management and, depending on the PC case design, also may improve the airflow.
As usual, I will add that I wish to see braided (single-wire) cables in the package. Gamers often buy cable extensions, and if it were with the PSU, then it would save a lot of space and money. I’m sure that even with additional cost, a PSU with a full set of braided cables would sell well.
On the next page, we will take a closer look at the PSU and its performance.
