The package and its contents
The PSU arrived in a retail package, which is typical for PSU boxes. The package is well-designed and shares an aesthetic similar to that of other new Deepcool products. The main specifications are all described on the package, so we don’t need any additional paper manuals or documentation. All the specifications are also available on the product website.
The package includes a power supply, modular cables, a user guide, screws, cable stripes, and a power cord. Simply, everything we need for the installation.
The PSU looks almost the same as the previously reviewed PX1000G. The visible difference is the fan grill, a separate part and shiny silver. The 1300W unit also has more cable connectors, supporting dual 12VHPWR. The size of the PSU is precisely the same, and considering the power, it’s relatively small.
The exterior is black and scratch-resistant. Of course, there are limits, but at least after installation, nothing will be visible. The paint job looks better in real life than in the attached pictures.
We will find a power switch and a Hybrid Mode switch on the back. The power switch is obvious, but the Hybrid one is designed to switch between semi-passive and active modes. Since the PSU is not heating much, we recommend the Hybrid mode, as the fan will spin less, gather less dust, and live longer.
The PX1300P is a fully modular PSU. This means we can use as many cables as we need and skip additional ones to save space in the PC case. This helps in cable management and may also improve airflow depending on the PC case design. One example can be SATA and 4-pin Molex. Unless we have a large storage in mind, we can keep these cables in the box. The same goes for additional graphics card cables if we use a single graphics card and don’t need additional 6-pin connectors for the motherboard (USB-C power).
As usual, I will add that I wish to see braided (single-wire) cables in the package. Gamers often buy cable extensions; if they were included with the PSU, it would save a lot of space and money. Even with the additional cost, I’m sure a PSU with a complete set of braided cables would sell well.
On the next page, we will closely examine the PSU and its performance.
