Today, we’ll be taking a look at the Gigabyte UD850GM Power Supply. This is essential the heartbeat of the system. And if this fails it can be devastating for so many other parts of your system. Not only can it leave you stranded it can also permanently damage other components. I don’t have expensive testing equipment to test an extreme load, but I know I have been using a 1000w Gigabyte PSU with a 3060ti and 3070 running on a single machine 24 hours a day for months now. There are protections in place to prevent a power supply not being able to handle a load and trip like a breaker. I experienced that mistake of mixing power cable one time, and it actually took 3 times of trying to turn a system to ruin a hard drive and a couple of LED fans. The in-place protection did work a couple of times until that particular part was damaged past its protection capability. I am going to throw your typical workload over an over at this power supply during the testing. I don’t expect any to any issues. I have used a lot of different powers supplies and have had a couple go bad from age and some my fault. I always recommend exceeding wattage need if you can. The less the power supply has to work the cooler the components are going to be.
