The simple packaging hides an extremely powerful and expensive lapel microphone. You don’t get much inside the box.
You get a cable length of around 1.5m (1.6m including the dongle). The microphone itself is tiny and it’s housed in a protective mesh dome/nodule. You only get one microphone sponge with the package and one tie/shirt clip-on.

The Apogee MetaRecorder software for the iPhone is easy to use. Just download it from the Apps store. The app is locked to record only 60 seconds by default… but when you plug the Sennheiser MKE 2 Digital lapel microphone into the iPhone’s lightning port, it instantly unlocks the Apogee MetaRecorder to a “full” version. This I thought was pretty ingenious.
By default, all recordings are set to 24-bit depth, with a sample rate of 48.0 KHz. File format is saved as WAV (Sennheiser calls it Broadcast WAVE), which has a 2GB limit or CAF (unlimited).
You have plenty of options to share your recordings. Share it via Dropbox natively, AirDrop or Email. Once you have the WAV audio file, you can use any audio editor such as Audacity to cut and editor your recordings, or import it to any video editor such as Final Cut Pro on your Mac.
You can also connect the app with your Apple watch … this allows you to use the Apple watch as a handle remote control.
