Performance, Effects and Closer Look
I’m usually leaving disadvantages for the end but let’s say something about it so I won’t have to back to this matter again. The Cloud Flight S is a headset designed for PC and XBOX gamers. This sounds great as we know that the headset is dedicated to this specific group of gamers, so it should meet all their expectations. The only problem is that those users who wish to use it on other devices won’t be able to do that. The Cloud Flight S is communicating with devices through a USB dongle that requires Microsoft OS, so a PC with Windows operating system or XBOX console, which is also a Microsoft creation. For sure, there will be users who are fine with having a dedicated headset for other devices. Still, I’m sure that communication with various devices can be a crucial factor while purchasing a headset. In this case, I find the Cloud MIX, reviewed previously, a much better option.
The Cloud MIX highly affected the way how I see Cloud Flight S. As far as both headsets deliver high-quality sound, then the Cloud MIX is clearly better in high tones, and the sound feels deeper. On the other hand, Cloud Flight S is not an audiophile headset, which in games is not much worse. The sound in games is perfect. Everything is clear and should satisfy most gamers.
The mic is about the same as in the Cloud MIX, so simply perfect for gamers. I’m not a professional gamer, but for my needs, it’s just right. There were no problems with its quality during the tests.
Used materials are high-quality, but there is clearly more plastic than in some other HyperX headsets. It still feels good and gives a high-end product effect.
The build also feels durable, everything fits perfectly, and the metal sliders promise a long life for the headset.
The same as every other HyperX headset reviewed so far; the Cloud Flight S is comfortable. It’s light and doesn’t cause too much pressure because of its weight, even though it is heavier than the Cloud MIX. Paddings made of memory foam and leather finish feel really comfortable and also look exceptional.
I wish to see this headset in additional colors as it’s only available in black, which became a standard for gaming products. I feel like many gamers want to use something more original, at least blue or red, as in previous headset series. I assume that in the current RGB world, there could be added some lighting like in previous Cloud Flight models. On the other hand, who really wants their headset to glow and use the battery faster?
Since I mentioned the battery, the Flight S is specified to last 30 hours on one charge. In our tests, we were able to reach 33 hours at a medium volume, which is a fantastic result. It’s also about 5 hours longer than our result on the Cloud MIX.
Cloud Flight S can charge via USB cable or wirelessly via Qi charger, which is available for purchase separately. It could be useful to add the charger to the set as I don’t believe it would raise the price much, and the Flight S is already a quite expensive headset.
The specification also says about up to 20 meters of wireless range. We were able to reach 15 meters with 2 thin walls on the way, so I assume it’s a pretty good result.
The Cloud Flight S is offering the 7.1 surround sound, which we can activate via NGENUITY software. For sure, it helps to achieve the more bass sound. Also, lower tones are better, but the surround effect doesn’t fit everything. It’s excellent in games for which this headset was designed, but I would avoid it while listening to music or other sound sources. It’s still a nice addition, which may improve our experience. The effect overall is better than that in previous HyperX headsets like the Revolver, so I’m glad it’s being improved.
HyperX Cloud Flight S is clearly a headset designed for PC and XBOX gamers. Focusing on this group of users made it work perfectly in these two environments and, without a doubt, will satisfy their users.
