Specification of the Cloud earbuds looks pretty good. Frequency response is in a wide range. A human ear can’t process much below 20Hz or above 20kHz so it’s just a perfect range for most users. It’s not as good as that in Cloud Alpha reviewed by me some months ago but the most important is how it really sounds and that I will check a bit later.
Closer Look
Let’s start with the package contents.
The package of the Cloud earbuds is quite small but I wouldn’t expect a big box for a product like that. It presents well its contents and describes the product without the need of opening the box.
Inside we will find the earbuds, a small pouch, three sizes of ear tips, user’s manual and product cards. This product doesn’t need a detailed manual and I guess that all who will purchase it, won’t have any problems so I won’t focus on the installation and connection phase.
For sure a pouch is really handy. It protects the earbuds for the time we move between places. It’s only a bit small which for some users can be an advantage and for some not. We can put it easily into a pocket but the 1.2m long cable is not the easiest to fit inside. I guess that those who will use HyperX Cloud earbuds will find a way to make it fast and without problems.
I mentioned the cable so let’s continue. It’s 1.2m long so just right for everything. It’s also flat so is easy bending but at the same time should last longer than a typical thin and round cables. The cable has also a good finish what you can see on the photos so it shouldn’t be easily damaged if we pull it too hard.
The connector is a standard 3.5″ which is supported by most mobile devices and gaming consoles like Nintendo Switch. It actually works great with every device I was testing it with.
On the cable, we will also find a mic which is small and light. I think that users who are playing online games will be satisfied with the mic. It works as it should so sound is clear and high enough quality for most gamers. Of course, there are better options but not many are so small and designed for mobile devices.
Since Cloud earbuds were designed for gaming then, of course, I had to check how this product works with Nintendo Switch.
HyperX Cloud earbuds deliver clear sound what is easier to hear while listening to the music from the high-quality source than various games. Specific music and all other sounds in games let to hide frequency range but of course, it highly depends on the title as many new games offer great sound effects.Regardless of what game I was trying, the sound was perfect. There was no distortion or unexpected noise. I was actually surprised how balanced were all tones. Nothing too deep or too flat.About the same story was while listening to music but in this case, larger HyperX headsets were a bit better.
Of course, we can’t expect that earbuds will perform at the same level as higher full-size headphones but I’m impressed how HyperX Cloud sounds. There are also other things which are important during longer gaming sessions like comfort. I had no problems after mixed two or four hours of gaming. I can’t say the same about some other earbuds so for sure I’m satisfied and I bet that other users can say the same. It also depends on personal preferences so I can’t tell for everyone but for me, it’s a successful product.
