Performance
Gaming:
What is a better way to test a gaming headset then to play some games while using the headset? I really do not know.
So I played a couple of games mostly shooters: Battlefield 4 and Titanfall both relatively new shooters. Where Battlefield is a game with huge maps and a lot of vehicles, Titanfall is a more fast pace game with smaller maps and – hence the name Titans, these are big powerful robots that you can control.
Battlefield:
Like I already said this is a big shooter with huge maps, vehicles and a lot of weapons. Also in some maps you play with 32 players against 32 players so that is quite a lot, that also means there is a lot of shooting and explosions happening all around you or a tank/jet shooting or exploding next to you. And with good audio, headset/headphone or just speakers you can just be sucked up inside the game but I mostly get that when playing a good RPG. Still being able to hear footsteps or where the shots come from can really help you out definitely in more strategic shooter like Battlefield. With the Onda Pro I could hear all I needed from gunshots to footsteps, it was also comfortable enough to wear a couple of matches.
Titanfall:
Then Titanfall, you almost always start of as a pilot and after some time there is a titan ready for you. Drop it or drop in inside it when you died, these titans do have a lot more health and firepower then the pilots. And again I enjoyed playing with this headset, like I said it is comfortable enough to wear a couple games. In terms of sound it was good, everything was clear and I could hear shooting, jumping and myself punching another titan to scrap.
Music:
Then I also listened to some music, I am a big fan of underground hip-hop so I used the album “The Boston Project” from Slaine to test this headset. I liked the bass tunes and the vocals, of course the bass was a lot better on my speakers but that is pretty obvious for speakers with a sub in it. Wearing the headset was also not really a problem, it is comfortable enough. My only remark is the in-line controller it is really heavy and thus it tends to pull onto the headset cord. Using his with a phone, tablet, mp3,… is a no go because of the USB but that is no problem because its marked as a gaming headset and not really meant for mobile use.
Microphone:
The microphone is quiet good actually, clear and without (a lot) noise, what is good. If you play games with friends its not really that bad if there is some noise, of course it is not really fun to play then but sometimes isn’t the worst thing. But if you are playing competitive with a clan or a team, then communication is a key item to victory and then noise is unacceptable! fortunately i did not experience any problems with the mic.
