Performance
At the beginning I will only say that I’m not an audiophile but I listen to the music all the time. I’m also not a pro gamer but I play games often.
Installation
Installation of Viper V360 is really simple. You plug the USB connector into USB port and Windows should install all automatically. Additionally we can download and install Viper Audio Center software from Patriot’s website. Software has couple of basic options which we can also find in Windows sound manager or audio card settings.
Sound Quality
Regardless if I was listening to music or playing games, sound was good. It could be better while listening to music but can’t complain.
The Viper v360 was designed for games and there it shines. Sound in couple of popular titles like Fallout 4, Guild Wars 2 or Assassins Creed Syndicate was great. Especially we can hear surround effect which is amazing. We can hear every single sound like it was added from separate speaker, not a headset. Actually it sounds like everything was arround you. With rich bass it gives great experience.
Similar quality is in the movies. I was watching parts of the Star Wars, Lord of The Rings and some other movies and effects were also great. Looking at specification of the Viper V360 I wouldn’t expect it will be so good. Sound could be a but clearer sometimes but hard to say if it’s sound card quality or the headset itself.
A bit worse was while listening high quality music. It wasn’t bad but I heard better, especially in really high tones. On the other hand I haven’t heard any better sound in a headset in similar price so overall I’m really satisfied of the Viper V360 sound quality.
Microphone is also pretty good. Sound was not perfect but was clear and better than on many other headsets I had a chance to test.
Comfort
Patriot Viper V360 weight 360g so is pretty light. It’s also automatically adapting to the users head size and fits perfectly. It was comfortable even after longer use what is not often happening in the headset world. Low weight is for sure affecting overall comfort in this case.
Again I wasn’t expecting so good experience after seeing Viper V360 design. Looks similar to many other headsets with plastic band on the top but somehow it feels good what I can’t say about many competitive products.
Ear cups are quite big and without problems are covering all ears. Even users with larger ears ( I think I’m one of them ) shouldn’t have issues to feel comfortable.
