Performance
The comfort level of this headset with long period of use is fairly good, but not great. I was afraid that there was not enough cushion with the headband and would allow the headband to dig in. However, with the headset being as light as it is, I had little to no discomfort there. Being so new, the 1200 pulled tightly back against my head leading to some discomfort around the ears. Having plenty of cushion around the ear cups helped this tremendously. I believe over time and with some wear and tear, the 1200 would loosen up more and would not cause any problems. Lastly, with the leather material used causes the 1200 to get a bit hot.
My expectations were fairly low before testing the AX-1200, Therefore, I was very surprised by the audio and microphone quality of the AX-1200. Being built with gold plated 3.5mm jacks and 40mm drives, gives the 1200 great highs, good mids, and amazing lows. I was definitely able to loose my self while listening to music or playing games. Having the cushioned ears gave me a sense of noise cancelations, which is nice when I wanted to have an excuse to ignore my wife. The In-game experience was definitely a plus. You will be able to hear explosions, foot steps, or anything else that is needed.
The best feature of the AX-1200 is definitely the microphone! This microphone has been the best one I have tested while working for this site. Your in-game party members will be able to hear you clearly with little to no background noise. That is rare for most omnidirectional microphones. Especially for the price of AX-1200. Another great feature of the 1200, is that you are able to use this headset with your smartphones. I was told numerous times that I sounded better using the AX-1200 microphone then the built-in my I phone 6 Plus microphone. The mute button also works while using the phone and even hangs up the call by pushing the button twice.
