When you first open the box of a Senneheiser HD 800S, you’re greet with a cable jungle, but do not be alarmed as not only are the wiring extra thick to minimize loss of sound quality, but there are 2 separate wiring for either a 6.3mm connectors or an XLR4 connector.

The HD 800S keeps the same shape as its predecessor, the HD 800, but swapping out the silver frame to now a black one. Not afraid to show of its technology, the HD 800S’ has its acoustic inert frame as its exoskeleton, giving it a more futuristic feel, stepping away from a more classic look.  The padding on the massively over-sized ear cups seems thin, but are incredibly comfortable and molds the the shape of the side of you face, wrapping you up in your music. As mentioned previously, with 2 different connector wiring, the wiring under each ear cup is detachable with the connectors made with a sturdy alloy that gives a comforting secure click when inserted.

Visually, one of the stand out features of the HD 800S is its teardrop shape of the ear cups which makes the headband sit slightly towards the back of the head. Man mande Alcantra soft leather is used for the padding of the headband, and a stainless steal weave is used to protect the inner workings of the ear cups. The entire construction of the HD 800S is made from an advanced polymer which not only reduces the weight of the headphone but provides super durability.
