Wrap Up
Let’s be honest, I’ve been through my fair share of in-ear earphones, my pockets either chew them up, I miss ones with a remote control, or after a few weeks I get tired of their lack of sound quality in one dynamic range or another, so in all fairness I was a little skeptical when I took time to review the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ears, but was immediately gripped by its performance.
In Hong Kong with a MSRP of HK$949, the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear is excellent value providing some of the best sounds you will hear from in-ear earphones around that price. In direct comparison, my Shure SE which is cheaper at around HK$750 lacks the functionality of the remote control, has a fiddly wrap around ear design, and doesn’t produce the sound accuracy of both the bass and treble as the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear, which is only a 2 hundred bucks more.
For just HK$50 less than the Momentum In-Ear, you could opt of the colorful and trendy urBeats, but in all fairness, its as if you stuff cotton wool into your ears; the bass is powerful but thin, and the treble and mid range has nowhere the complexity as the Momentum In-Ear, leading to a harsh sound.
Verdict and Conclusion
In conclusion, if you are looking for a sub HK$1000 pair on in-ear headphones, and you cherish the accurate sounds and large range of depth of your music, the Sennheiser In-Ear should be right up there on your shopping list. The Sennheiser In-Ear reproduce some of the most notable sound characteristics of the larger Momentum sets, outperforming the vast majority of its competitors within its price range, a bargain at just HK$949 (USD $120).
