Steelseries 7XB – Xbox360 Wireless Headset Review

Verdict and Conclusion

Due to past generations of hardware, many people have notions that wireless headphones are bad for gaming, they should be avoided, etc. I too had some of these notions, and while they are somewhat true when it comes to buying low-end headphones. Once you buy a better pair, all of those problems go away.

I was greeted to a very convenient set of headphones that allowed me to listen to music all around the house, as well as give great sound in music, movies, and games. Previous headphones have failed at one thing or the other, but I feel that Steelseries has hit the nail on the head with this headset. Microphone quality is as good as usual, and while it was not tested on the xbox 360 platform, I’m sure it would have performed very well.

If you are looking for a headset that will allow you to game on your PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 this is a great set. While it isn’t quite perfect at everything, it does perform very well for not being an audiophile headset. For those in US looking for this headeset you might be out of luck. I was unable to find it for sale anywhere in the States. For those in Europe, it can be found for around £155 which is a pretty good deal for getting a good performing headset that allows you to use them anywhere in the house.

Final words. Prior to this review I thought that wireless headphones had no place in gaming, but this headset changed those thoughts completely. Times have changed and the lag that once was there is now gone. If you are looking for a wireless headset to play games, watch movies, and listen to music this is a great bet. There are better headsets out there for the money but you will be limited by having chords. If you want wireless, they are an awesome bet for the money.
