Today we’ll be taking a look at the Syllable D900S Tip Wireless Earbuds. Like the D300 earbuds we reviewed last time, these earbuds are designed and aimed at the sports enthusiasts, but with a new feature – Syllable’s exclusive Multiplex Link composite connection technology for wireless connectivity. It’s also supports apt-x sound effect, which apparently will give you pretty decent Hi-Fi quality audio. Another added bonus is the IPX4 waterproof certification… I’m guessing it’s splash-proof and sweat-resistant.
The built-in Bluetooth 4.1 gives you compatibility with a wide range of mobile devices including iOS and Android devices. A full single change will give you around 4 hours of talk and playback time, and up to 90 hours standby.
Let’s check out the overview and specifications taken from www.gearbest.com

What I like about the Syllable D900S, is the included charging dock. It has a micro USB connector on the side for charging the earbuds, and button in the front, which when pressed lights up a row of blue LEDs. This is the battery level indicator. What’s more, the earbuds triangular button glows red! That’s so groovy!
Connecting to your Smartphone
Pairing and connecting the Syllable D900S was a little trickier than I thought. If the units are not already paired, you must do so before connecting it to your mobile device. After this step is completed, just hold the triangular button on each of the earbuds until the LEDs are flashing in multi-colors. The D900S should appear in your smartphone’s bluetooth menu.
The instruction manual states that the right ear piece is the primary unit for paring.

The package comes with a range of accessories, including a pair of spare in-ear rubber buds, a USB charging cable and a stretching rubber string which you can mount the earbuds … turning it into a one piece setup.
During our tests, the Syllable D900S was pretty comfortable in the ear. However, the actually units are quite large and do stick out a little, and protrude out of your ear.
Conclusion and Verdict
Pros:
- Reasonable priced at USD $70.00
- Answer, reject and redial calls.
- Good audio quality with decent bass
- IPX4 waterproof
- Charging dock
Cons:
- Can look bulky while wearing it
- No skip, forward, rewind or volume up/down functions
- Low volume from recipient
- Only 4 hours of talk and playback time
Final Words.
In terms of audio quality, the Syllable D900S delivered pretty good quality audio with decent bass. As far as aesthetics are concerned, it’s a little big for my liking. The two units are quite large and do stick out a little, and protrude out of your ear quite a bit. Build quality is good, and I do like the charging dock with the battery level indicator. The IPX4 waterproof certification gives the D900S splash-proof and sweat-proof capabilities. Built-in controls allows you to Answer, reject and redial calls. However, there’s no No skip, forward, rewind or volume up/down functions.
Call quality is ok, but not the best. I experienced low volume from the recipient (on the other end) when making/receiving phone calls.
Like the Syllable D300 earbuds, you only 4 hours of talk and playback time, which isn’t quite long enough for me. My preference is 6-8 hours talk time.
If you’re after a set of reasonably priced earbuds that are truely wireless, then the Syllable D900S is worth considering.

I have these. They sound awful. No bass at all. Suitable for spoken word only. And they come with really weird earbuds (several sets) and I have NO idea how they fit in my ear.
