Software
As with all Thermaltake gaming peripherals, software is provided to get the maximum out of the gear. The Cronos RGB comes with an unique software that not only allows user to simulate the speaker direction and distance, but offers an exclusive 12 preset mode selection for preferred preferences. The Cronos RGB also delivers a 10-band EQ function that can be adjusted manually, allowing users to create different EQ settings for different game categories such as: FPS, MMORPG, RTS, ARPG. Not only are there presets for different types of games, but also for different genres of music you may care to listen to with the Cronos RGB.
There are 3 modes for the RGB illumination of the Cronos RGB; static, pulse and spectrum. Of course, you can pick out the exact colour and tone of the LEDs to match that of your PC build.
Comfort & Performance
The Cronos RGB is lightweight, so putting it on your head you don’t feel a heavy weight pushing down on your head, or dragging the skin around your ears. Clamping around the ears are at a minimum with these headsets, so ideal to use for long gaming spells. Even though the materials used on the padding of the earcups is smooth, I would still prefer to extra smoothness of soft leather around my ears.
For such a lightweight gaming headset, the Cronos RGB produces some great sounds. Bass is rich and rounded and even when the volume is pushed high up, it doesn’t distort. Add to this the accurate and clear treble and mid-tones, the audio from the Cronos RGB oozes brilliance. On top of all this you will find the 7.1 surround sound to be very accurate giving you not only a clear indication of the direction where the sounds are coming from, but also how far away the sound is.
With a lot of gaming headsets out on the market, great audio sounds doesn’t always mean the microphone matches up to that quality. With the Cronos RGB, the microphone audio quality is excellent. Voice is clean and precise, without picking up much background noise, giving others a feel that you are talking directly into their ears.
