Conclusion
The Acer MA200 seems like a perfect SSD for handheld consoles and other mobile devices that support the M.2 2230 standard.
I was positively surprised about the performance as it matches what we could expect from one of the most popular (for its results) Corsair MP600 Mini. Both SSDs perform the same; as not many on the current market, they use TLC NAND.
Now, maybe some words about disadvantages, as the MA200 isn’t perfect, just like all M.2 2230 SSDs. Since everything is packed on a minimal surface, it causes a problem with cooling, and the MA200 runs quite hot, as does any competitive option. It didn’t affect the performance or stability, but we must be aware that extended writes may cause the performance to decrease.
The second disadvantage is the availability and prices. The MA200 is hard to find in popular online stores. We found it quite overpriced in the Amazon UK store, which asks for the 1TB version for £115.20. The MA200 is supposed to cost closer to £85. I assume it’s a matter of 2-3 weeks until it will be widely available. You may also search for it in other stores as I bet you will find lower prices.
A five-year warranty covers the MA200 series SSDs. It’s one of the longest warranties for M.2 2230 SSDs, as most products have no more than a three-year warranty.
Final words:
The Acer MA200 M.2 2230 1TB SSD is one of the best options if you want a SSD that fits handheld gaming consoles and small laptops. It’s fast, compatible with multiple devices, uses high-quality components and TLC NAND, and you also get a five-year warranty. What’s more, it’s reasonably priced, so it’s a win-win situation for everyone!
