Acer Predator GM7000 2TB NVMe PCIe SSD Review

Product Photos and a Closer Look

The package of the GM7000 is a small box with blister protection for the SSD inside. Besides the SSD, inside is a quick start guide and a single screw which can be handy if we are missing it in our motherboard or laptop.

The box’s exterior is well described and provides quite detailed info about the SSD inside.

The GM7000 comes with a digital version of Acronis software, which helps us move the old data and operating system to a new SSD.

The SSD itself looks pretty typical for an M.2 2280 SSD. The only exception is a graphene pad which works as a heatsink but is softer. We have to remember that if we wish to use an additional heatsink, as the SSD will be a bit thicker. The graphene pad is helping to reduce the SSD heat. The specs say we can expect even an 18°C reduction. This is a lot, and considering that the SSD runs without throttling, then it seems like it works well.

The SSD was tested on the ASUS Strix Z690-I Gaming motherboard. The motherboard is designed to support two M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD in a sandwich design. The top heatsink was not used for tests, so the SSD worked, as you see in the photos below.

On the next page, we will take a closer look at test results.
