Package and its Contents
Acer SA100 SSD arrived in a retail package which is a small, flat box. The package is well described with all the features and main specifications.
Inside the box, we will find an SSD, a set of screws for the installation, and a quick start guide. We rarely see screws in the package, but if we install our brand new SSD in a laptop, we will need that.
The SSD looks like any other SATA SSD. It meets standards regarding the size and, as most SATA SSD, has a label with a product and serial numbers.
What is for sure unique is that the exterior is wholly white. It’s made of plastic, but the SSD runs at a low temperature, so that it won’t matter much.
The SSD fits into any laptop that supports 7mm thick 2.5″ drives and any desktop with some space to install a 2.5″ drive. There is nothing unusual about this product, and the installation is simple, so every, even less advanced user should handle it without issues.
Above are a couple of photos of the test rig, so a popular series of gaming laptop. You can see there the FA100 M.2 NVMe SSD, which will appear soon in a separate review.
On the next page of this review, we will take a closer look at the performance.
