Test Bench
For our tests, we used our latest test rig, which is comprised of the following components.
CPU | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X @ 3.6GHz (Boost 4.4GHz) |
Cooling | Noctua NH-U9S cooler |
Motherboard | ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming ITX/TB3 |
Ram | Adata XPG Spectrix D60G DDR4-3200MHz 16Gb Kit |
PSU | Cooler Master V850 PSU |
GPU | Zotac GeForce RTX 2080 AMP Extreme Core (8GB GDDR6) |
SSD |
ADATA XPG SX7000 PCIE Gen3x4 SSD 240GB |
AIDA64 Disk Information
The ADAT Spectrix S40G uses a Realtek SSD controller, which is fairly new to the scene and comes with a total capacity of 512GB of 3D NAND flash memory
CrystalDiskMark
CrystalDiskMark is a disk benchmark software. It measure sequential reads/writes speed, measure random 512KB, 4KB, 4KB (Queue Depth=32) reads/writes speed, select test data (Random, 0Fill, 1Fill), provide theme support and Multi-Language support.
During our CrystalDiskMark tests, we managed to get a read speed of between 3,530-3,543 Mb/sec, which is mightily impressive. Writes however was a little odd. My first initial test produced a decent score of 2,144 Mb/sec … subsequent tests for 4GB/16G/32GB only produced a score ranging from 1628-1767 Mb/sec. Still a very good score in terms of write speeds.
ATTO Disk Benchmark
ATTO has created a widely-accepted Disk Benchmark freeware software to help measure storage system performance. As one of the top tools utilized in the industry, Disk Benchmark identifies performance in hard drives, solid state drives, RAID arrays as well as the host connection to attached storage.
Anvil Storage
Anvil’s Storage Utilities is a powerful tool that was designed in order to provide you with a simple means of assessing the read and writer performance of your Solid State Drive or Hard Disk Drive.
During our Anvil tests, we managed to get a 4K QTD16 Read IOPS score of 174,683.44. While 4K QTD16 write IOPS score was at 183,390.76 for write. Not as high I expected, but still a good score nevertheless.
