Verdict and Conclusion
Although PCIE Gen4x4 SSDs are more popular and generally cheaper, we’re now starting to see more and more PCIE Gen5x4 SSDs coming to the market. If your motherboard supports PCIE Gen5x4 SSDs and you can afford the upgrade, then I see no real reason why you shouldn’t take advantage of what it offers… super fast data transfer rate of 10,000MB/sec or more!
During our benchmarks, the Corsair MP700 performed as expected for a PCIE Gen5 SSD. In our Crystalmark 32GB tests, it produced a maximum read speed of 9,949 MB/sec and write speeds of 10,054 MB/sec. For Anvil’s 4K QD16 read/write test, we got phenomenal IOPS scores of 284.409.13 and 589,186.26 respectively.
The Corsair MP700 doesn’t come with any heatsinks but it does have a thin copper foil that covers the top of the SSD. This, along with the motherboard’s M.2 heatsink, should provides sufficient cooling. However, if that’s not enough and you’re in to watercooling, then Corsair sells the Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block for the SSD for around USD $39.
For most users, gamers and even enthusiast such as video editors who needs to edit large files, the Corsair MP700 is more than plenty to satify their insatiable needs. This is all thanks to the indomitable Phison E26 PCIE 5.0 SSD controller along with Micron’s 232-layer 3D TLC NAND chips, which provides the best combination for performance and endurance.
Now, if 10,000MB/s read/write speed isn’t fast enough for you, then you can check out Corsair’s new MP700 Pro at USD $299 which offers insane read/write speeds of up to 12,400MB/s and 11,800MB/s respectively!
You can buy the Corsair MP700 2TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD for around USD $248 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/4cCkkB0
Final Thoughts
If you need a fast PCIE Gen5 SSD so that you can load your favorite software or games at lightning speeds, then look no further. The Corsair MP700 gives super fast read and write speed of up to 10,000 MB/s, plus it comes with a 5-year warranty. It’s perfect for any desktop PCs or laptops that supports PCIE Gen 5 SSDs.
