Specifications
As you see in the above table, 525GB and 1TB has the same theoretical performance. Previously reviewed 750GB offers the same speed.
All drive parameters can be checked using Crucial Storage Executive. This simple to use software is showing all you may need like overall condition of the drive, SMART raport, temperature and can also update firmware to the latest version without the need of searching for it in the web.
Additional feature is Momentum Cache which works like additional boost for the SSD. Depends from system specifications it can be even up to ten times faster what was actually tested in our redaction.
Above is screenshot from CrystalDiskInfo as it’s the most popular software to check drive’s health. Exactly the same SMART values you can see in Storage Executive so for everything you need, can be used Crucial software.
There is also one new thing which is worth to mention. Crucial has released a guide which is helping to pick the right SSD for your needs. Website is available under this link ( click ).
Closer Look
MX300 525GB has arrived in a retail package which contains 7 to 9.5mm spacer, Acronis True Image HD certificate and of course the SSD itself.
Below are additional photos of the package. All is closed in a small, flat box.
MX300 has standard 2.5″ size and hard to say about anything unusual as all drives supposed to have the same dimensions to fit into laptops.
The drive is well described. In front, if I can say that, is MX sticker which is similar for all Crucial MX series SSD. On the back there is sticker with more detailed info about SSD which contains all product and serial numbers but also firmware version. Of course firmware will change in time but we at least know what version has installed our brand new SSD.
Tested MX300 525GB has arrived with the latest available firmware version which is also fully stable and well tested before release.
