The 2TB version of P5 Plus has a declared maximum bandwidth of up to 6600MB/s read and up to 5000MB/s write. We could say it could be higher as many competitive SSD reach 7000, 7200, or even 7400MB/s. On the other hand, a typical user won’t see the difference, and even gamers won’t notice anything during extended gaming sessions.
As it was expected, Crucial P5 Plus uses Micron components, both controller and NAND. It guarantees the high quality of the product, and I won’t hide that I just love the quality of Crucial memory products. Not always the fastest, but always reliable, stable, and with the best support around.
The SSD arrived with a 0 hours counter and a perfect condition. CrystalDiskInfo shows that the SSD is brand new without SMART errors or used cells.
The idle temperature is around 40-45°C which is acceptable. During extended tests, we couldn’t reach 70°C, so the heatsink definitely helps. Since the temperature wasn’t too high, then we also haven’t seen thermal throttling in tests.
The maximum temperature after tests was 66°C, as reported by hwinfo64.
Crucial has its own diagnostic software, but it doesn’t log temperatures. On the other hand, it has many handy tools which we won’t find anywhere else.
The P5 Plus SSD arrived with the latest firmware. It’s a retail product, so you can expect the same buying the SSD in an online store.
On the next page, we will look at the SSD itself and the package contents.
