Package and its Contents
In the package, we receive the P5 Plus 2TB SSD and a multilingual quick-start guide. On the exterior, we will find a general specification, additional features, and contact with support. In short, everything that a regular user needs to know.
The P5 Plus SSD is designed for desktop computers and PS5 consoles, so it doesn’t require anything else. The installation itself is straightforward so that everyone can handle it. If you aren’t sure how to do it, then please visit the Crucial website, as there are plenty of guides.
As usual with the modern SSD, to see optimal performance, we need a motherboard that supports M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD. Most, if not all, modern motherboards should support P5 Plus. Laptops may have problems because of the included heatsink, and then I recommend the version without a heatsink. The heatsink isn’t as tall as in the recently reviewed T700 SSD, but it’s still too tall for very tight computers.
The same as the T700 SSD, the P5 Plus SSD is black – the PCB, heatsink, and labels. I love how all Crucial products look somehow professional but still have that gaming spirit. Many competitive products look like toys, and I know that computer enthusiasts don’t really like that.
Below you can see how the P5 Plus looks installed on ASUS DIMM.2 card that comes with an ASUS Crosshair X670E GENE motherboard. The motherboard supports both PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 SSD and was previously used for the T700 SSD review, so for sure won’t limit the performance of the P5 Plus.
We will show you how the P5 Plus SSD performs on the next page of this review.
