Crucial T500 General Specifications:

General tech specs
SSD series T500
Interface PCIe Gen 4.0 x4, NVMe 2.0
Capacity 4TB
Form factor M.2 (2280)
SSD Endurance (TBW) 2400TB

The 4TB version of T500 has a declared maximum bandwidth of up to 7000MB/s read and up to 6900MB/s write. We will see the maximum on motherboards with M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 sockets. The PS5 console is hardware-limited at a lower bandwidth, so as long as the T500 is fully compatible with the PS5, then the maximum bandwidth will be lower – around 6600MB/s

The T500 uses a Micron 232-layer TLC NAND and Phison E25 controller. In addition, we will find LPDDR4 DRAM. Its specifications are not far from what we could see in the T700 SSD, and as you will find out later, the performance in daily work or games is also not far from that of the fastest Crucial SSD.

Below is a screenshot from the AIDA64 storage specifications tab:

The SSD arrived with a 0-hour counter and was in perfect condition. CrystalDiskInfo shows that it is brand new without SMART errors or used cells.

The idle temperature is around 27°C, which is quite low. The thermals were not surprising since we had already reviewed the T500 SSD, but it had a different capacity. These SSDs really run so cool. During tests, we haven’t seen more than 55°C. The heatsink helps, but the SSD would be significantly below the throttling point even without it. In short, the T500 doesn’t throttle at all. Considering the performance and competitive SSDs, it’s fantastic.

Crucial delivers all the required software, including firmware updates, diagnostics, and storage cloning. Crucial Storage Executive tells us everything we may need and provides additional tools.

On the next page, we will look at the SSD itself and the package contents.
