Package and its Contents
In the package, we receive the T700 2TB SSD and a multilingual quick-start guide. The tall heatsink makes the package slightly thicker than a typical Crucial SSD box. On the exterior, we will find a general specification, additional features, and contact with support.
The T700 is designed for desktop computers, so it doesn’t require anything else. The installation itself is straightforward so that everyone can handle it.
The only real requirement for optimal performance is an M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 socket. Only the latest generation motherboards have such sockets, not even all of them, so we have to check the specifications to see if our motherboard supports the latest M.2 socket standard. If we have a PCIe 4.0 socket, the SSD will be limited to about 7.4GB/s. It’s still fast, but we expect results close to 12GB/s.
The drive is black – the PCB, heatsink, and labels. It makes it match perfectly with every PC. On our test motherboard, we can pick M.2 DIMM card or a regular M.2 socket. The second option would block a graphics card because of the tall T700 heatsink. It’s one of the few disadvantaged as it’s impossible to install this SSD with motherboard heatsinks or in other places where it will block other devices. Even on the M.2 DIMM card, it was nearly touching the motherboard’s power cable.
We will show you how the T700 SSD performs on the next page of this review.
