Conclusion
Crucial improved the T700 design, giving us the T705. The new SSD is faster and cooler. It still runs quite hot, but it doesn’t matter as it doesn’t affect the performance.
The T705 is up to 10% faster in mixed-load tests than the T700, which gives us up to 40% better results than higher series PCIe 4.0 x4 SSDs. It’s the fastest SSD tested in our redaction and, currently, the fastest SSD on the market.
The drive uses a standard size M.2 2280, so it fits every modern computer, which is another advantage. We only have to remember about the tall heatsink that may block access to a graphics card if the M.2 socket is located next to the PCIe slot. On the other hand, a version without a heatsink (motherboard heatsink is required) is also available and is slightly cheaper.
Since I mentioned the price, the 2TB version of the T705 SSD costs almost as much as the T700 after the premiere, around $337. It’s definitely not cheap and will greatly limit sales. On the other hand, the price is still around what slower, competitive PCIe 5.0 SSDs cost.
Crucial offers a 5-year warranty for the T705 series SSD, which confirms that the brand is confident in the high quality of its product. Not many SSDs have such an extended warranty.
Final words:
Crucial have given us one of the fastest SSD on the market, and if the money is not an issue, then I think it’s the best option right now. Whether you’re an avid gamer, an enthusiast or a professional who wants the best results and the fastest read/write response … you can’t go wrong with the T705 SSD, as it’s clearly the fastest SSD on the market!
