Package and its Contents
We receive the X10 Pro 2TB SSD, USB-C cable, and a multilingual quick-start guide in the package. On the exterior, we will find a general specification, additional features, and contact with support. In short, everything that a regular user needs to know.
The X10 Pro doesn’t require any guide. All we need to do is to connect the USB-C cable and use it. We only have to remember that the optimal performance is on USB-C Gen 2×2 ports, including USB 4 / Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports on the latest motherboards. We may have problems with the maximum bandwidth on Thunderbolt 4 ports used on the previous generation of motherboards. The safe bet is always a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 port.
I love what Crucial did with the design of this SSD. It’s smaller and lighter than the X8, runs cooler, looks better, and is slightly faster. As usual in the case of portable SSD, I wish it had a built-in USB cable so I wouldn’t have to remember to take it, and it would take up less space. The marketing pictures present the X10 Pro as a pocket size. It is, but it doesn’t show the USB-C cable, which we also need to take with us. It’s not really an issue, but maybe an idea for designers, as I’m sure I’m not the only one who wishes for this feature.
The SSD’s enclosure is made of metal in front and rubber in touch, but very smooth back. You can feel the quality of the product only by touching it. Touching the screen probably won’t tell you much about it, but you can look at the photos above.
The SSD is resistant to water and dust and should also survive drops on the ground from a 1-2m height. This is precisely what we expect of the portable SSD.
We will show you how the X10 Pro SSD performs on the next page of this review.
