Conclusion and Verdict
Well, we made it to conclusion of this review and all I can say is, NICE! This drive in-fact lived up to the advertised speeds and run through the AIDA64 linear test with no problem. The heat sink kept this drive nice and cool. The highest temp was 40 degrees and that was after hitting it with benchmark after benchmark. The only thing I noticed that may be an issue with the design of the heatsink, is the screw mount.
Regular screw and mounts are not the issue. The issue was with the new screwless design on the new ASUS motherboards. The opening on the heatsink didn’t allow for the new ASUS screwless M.2 Q-Latch to fit inside the heatsink cutout. I did fix this relatively easy though. I took off the mount from the ASUS board and filed down the plastic until it fit inside the heatsink. It didn’t take much maybe 5 min. And I was able freely lock and unlock the screwless M.2 design. This should be something you are aware of if you have the Q-Latch system on your board.
The heatsink is beefy. I can see why this drive managed to stay under 40 degrees. Gen 4×4 drives draw a decent amount of power and in turn produce some heat. Having a heat sink like this assures this drive will not encounter any temperature issues. This means safer data and more reliable operational speeds. This thing is also PS5 Ready meaning you can pop this thing into your PS5 hassle free and be back to gaming in no time. This drive tested extremely well and has a nice design.
