Gigabyte VISION Drive 1TB Upgrade Kit Review

Conclusion and Verdict

Wow, as you saw on the earlier page this drive reaches the advertised speed with ease with the expansion cards. Unfortunately you are also limited by whatever USB connection you are using. This just means you can fully utilize every type of USB port. Just remember which type USB you are utilizing because this will effect the transfer speeds. I am curious of what the actual NVMe drive is capable of in a M.2 slot. Don’t worry these results will come just not in this review! For now we will concentrate on the intended use of the drive. And expanding on this, what are the limits of this drive. Well to be honest, not much. Even using a USB 3.0 connection you can reach speeds of 445 MB/s. At these speeds you could comfortably use this as a game drive. This is the ultimate external drive. The temps stay low thanks to the adequate ventilation and the included carrying case make this drive extremely convenient to take anywhere. If you are a gamer or creator the speeds this drive can reach should put this on your must “have” list. The tests show the amazing capabilities of this drive.

You can get this drive by itself but I highly recommend getting the upgrade kit because it comes with the expansion card. And this is a necessity to reach the 2000 MB/s speeds. Unfortunately you can’t buy the Gigabyte VISION Drive 1TB Upgrade Kit in the US yet and the pricing hasn’t been announced either. So until then we will have to wait for that announcement.

It is available on mwave.au for $330.98 so we can convert this and we get around $250 USD. We can anticipate the price to be somewhere around this price point.

Pros:

  • Amazing speeds
  • Hard carrying case
  • Included expansion card
  • Compact size
  • Decent cooling

Cons:

  • None

Final Thoughts:

The VISION Drive 1TB Upgrade Kit can achieve blazing fast transfers speeds, making this drive every creator or gamers “must have” external drives. After you experience these speeds, having anything but a NVMe in an external drive is trivial, everything else will become obsolete!
