In the specification there is no data about performance. I guess that Kingston tested everything and is sure about drive’s functionality. What I mean is that realtime writing requires some storage bandwidth but that we will test on the next page of this review.

Looks like with most products designed for Apple devices also here Kingston says us what we can do with the Bolt Duo in quite short form. It has to be functional and nothing else matters.
Closer Look
Package of the Bolt Duo looks different from what we are used to see. It’s a small box with simple design which is similar to about everything else what we can find on the market designed for Apple products.
Kingston Bolt Duo comes with a keychain accessory. Since the flash drive is small then I think it’s good idea. On the other hand design of the accessory is not the best for me. It’s made of soft rubber, protects flash drive well but I don’t know if I would trust it, if I had more important data on the drive. Somehow it leaves mixed feelings while using it and it can easily bend what may cause to lose the flash drive. Maybe it’s just me as I’m sometimes a bit too picky and see additional problems.
The flash drive itself feels durable. It’s made of metal, there are no moving parts and is quite small. It works with both, lightning and USB devices. Since it’s designed for Apple products then on iPhone or iPad we can use additional software which we have to download. On a typical PC we simply plug it into USB port. The Bolt Duo is compatible with USB 3.1 standard but works also backwards with older generations.
The DataTraveler Bolt Duo is designed for mobile devices and we can clearly see that. We don’t need additional cables or converters to use it on various devices. We don’t need any special software. Simply plug it and it works.
Let’s move to the next page to see how does Kingston DataTraveler Bolt Duo performs.
