Conclusion
Kingston HyperX FURY seem a good option for all gamers and it’s actually dedicated for gamers. Performance is good enough to run everything smooth while price is affordable for most users. Kingston is not hidding it’s not their highest SSD series but it doesn’t mean it’s slow. In our tests we have checked that real performance is higher than declared by Kingston reaching 556 MB/s read and 535 MB/s write bandwidth in ATTO Disk Benchmark. That’s a great result for SSD which is specified to run at maximum of 500 MB/s read and write.
240GB version of HyperX FURY is available for about $130 USD in online stores like Amazon. It’s not the cheapest SSD around but performance to price ratio is quite good.
HyperX FURY is available in 120GB and 240GB version. We wish to see also 480GB or higher capacity but for that Kingston has other SSD series. 120-240GB is usually enough for games for which these SSD are designed.
I also wish to see newer controller used in these SSD as SandForce SF-2281 is already old. On the bright side, Kingston engineers made really good and stable firmware for HyperX FURY so I doubt that anyone will be disappointed. HyperX FURY has passed all our tests flawlessly and even long benchmarks like over one hour of PCMark8 were not any problem.
Pros:
- Good performance to price ratio
- Performance high enough to satisfy every gamer
- Solid build
Cons:
- Could be based on a newer and faster controller
Final words:
Kingston made one more good product designed for gamers. HyperX FURY SSD the same as FURY series memory are prepared for all who wish to enjoy gaming keeping full stability and high performance without spending much money. I can recommend Kingston HyperX FURY 240GB SSD to all who are looking for a fast storage for their daily gaming challenges.
