Conclusion
HyperX Predator seems like a great option on the current SSD market. Not many brands can offer so fast SSD without need to set RAID. Not many are also offering M.2 form factor which can be used separately – without PCIe adapter. As I mentioned earlier, most manufacturers are protecting their drives with warranty stickers or simply SSD are soldered to PCIe card/adapter. HyperX Predator can be used or in PCIe slot or in M.2 socket. In our tests on ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard both ways were performing the same.
HyperX Predator performance is exceptional. Similar results we could achieve on a three regular SSD set in RAID0 while here it’s all on one small M.2 drive. Saves space, saves power and doesn’t need separate high performance RAID controller.
Great performance is not everything. Kingston is offering three year warranty and free technical support. Could be more but it’s not bad. Except that we can find free Acronis license so we can clone our old drive onto lightning fast Predator SSD.
The only disadvantage can be price. Right now 480GB version of HyperX Predator costs about $500. However for all who care about top performance it can be not that bad price. We pay twice as much than for a regular SATA SSD but we receive two or three times higher performance. Probably price will drop soon as we are just after premiere.
Pros:
- Great performance – even higher than declared
- Compatible with PCIe or M.2 slots
- Free Acronis cloning software
- Standard and low-profile brackets
Cons:
- Price
Final words:
HyperX is a brand which is providing computer hardware for gamers and computer enthusiasts so as we could expect also HyperX Predator SSD is a product created for these most demanding users. Every gamer should be more than satisfied of Predator SSD. Lightning fast performance and convenient form factor are the main features of this drive but we can’t forget about good support with three year warranty and free Acronis software.
HyperX Predator 480GB PCIe SSD is the best SSD reviewed by FunkyKit so far and it clearly deserved our Editor’s Choice Award !!
