Package and its Contents
The KLEVV S1 1TB SSD arrived in a retail package about the size of the typical, small M.2 SSD box of KLEVV and many other brands.
The package is well described with all the features and main specifications. There is also info about support and various safety certificates.
Inside the box, we will find an SSD, a dedicated flat USB-C cable, and a USB-C to USB-A adapter. Since it’s USB storage, installation is not required. We connect it to any USB, and it should be automatically recognized and ready to work. We must remember that the optimal performance will be provided only on modern computers with USB 3.2 Gen2x2 ports capable of 20Gbps bandwidth. The SSD is backward compatible with older standards, but the bandwidth will be limited.
The S1 SSD is relatively small and flat. We have seen smaller portable SSDs, but most of them are still larger than the S1. The S1 is flat enough to hide it in a pocket. The only issue is still the USB cable. KLEVV delivers the S1 with a short and flat USB cable, which takes less space, but we still have to remember to carry it with the SSD. A built-in cable or a way to attach it to the SSD would be a good improvement.
The SSD looks stylish, and in reality, it looks even better than in the photos. The upper side is creamy-white and glossy. After some tests, moving, repacking, etc., I haven’t seen any scratches, suggesting it will last quite long and look new. Overall, the S1 feels like a high-quality product.
On the next page of this review, we will take a closer look at the performance.
