Performance
Now onto the performance of the Fuel
Note: I copied all of my files from my hard drive to my SSD before timing and checking out the copy speeds to the LaCie Fuel. I also used the USB 3.0 port on my computer.
I first copied a video folder of 14.4 GB to the Fuel.
And it took 2:25 minutes to copy with a average speed of 102MB/s
Then I also took a small 236MB folder with some music files.
That took 3:45 seconds to copy the transfer speed was not stable, it just kept rising from 22MB/s on 0 seconds to 75MB/s last second
So surely I can not complain about the writing speeds.
Now to access your files you need to install the Seagate Media app from the iTunes store or android market, fortunatly the app is free so that is a good thing
Now let us take a look at accessing files on the Fuel.
I am not really a fan of the fact you need to connect it through wifi, now you can not browes the web and listen to music or so. You do can connect the Fuel to your wifi and access the web that way, but on public internet evryone can then see your files so I’d rather keep my files private.
Music:
Select the music folder, choose the category: Album, artist, genre or playlist or just choose a song.
The songs load pretty quick and you can let it play in the background which is pretty cool.
Pictures:
To view your pictures, just click the pictures tab and select the ones you want to view, then you can scroll through them or choose the ones you want to see.
Sometimes the need to load and it can take some seconds
Videos:
I could not play any of my videos, the app always told me I had to install Aceplayer or Goodplayer, payed apps. I did had VLC installed on my iPod but I could not use it. that was a big downside for me as I would use the device to store and access my series.
