Performance
All tests presented in this part of the review were performed on ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard and Intel USB 3.0 controller which is usually offering better performance than competitive USB controllers.
Even though Thunderbolt, Lightning or USB 3.0 ports are offering higher maximum bandwidth then mobile devices usually can’t run much faster than the speed of USB 2.0 so about 30MB/s. JumpDrive C20i has declared maximum bandwidth of 95MB/s what is already respectable speed for USB flash drive but that bandwidth we can see only on USB 3.0 or full bandwidth Thunderbolt ports which are barely ever available in smartphones or tablets. What I wish to explain here is that we can find faster flash drives on the market but it doesn’t mean they will work faster with mobile devices. JumpDrive C20i declared performance seems optimal but let’s take a look at our test results.
At the beginning ATTO Disk Benchmark. We can see that performance in sequential transfers is even higher than that declared by Lexar. Sequential read is going up to 96MB/s while sequential write above 29MB/s.
So far all looks great so maybe we will move to other benchmarks.
CrystalDiskMark is showing good performance at various test files. Best results we can see at larger files like 1GB+. This flash drive simply performs better when it has more work what is good if you wish to move more files from one device to the other. It’s actually designed to transfer files between various devices.
In Anvil’s Storage Utilities we can see slightly lower results than in previous tests but all also looks great. Anvil’s benchmark is performing different tests so we can’t compare results from other applications.
One more thing worth to mention is that Lexar JumpDrive C20i is performing good regardless if it’s full or empty. Most results are presented on empty drive but above 50% used capacity performance was similar.
General performance of JumpDrive C20i 64GB is quite good. We can find faster flash drives like Lexar P20 but we won’t find competitive product with Lightning connector what makes C20i really interesting storage device.
