Lexar JumpDrive S33 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

Performance

Besides good looks, performance is probably most important in every flash drive so here we go with our test stage.

As usual we are going to show results based on popular storage benchmarks so it’s easy for every reader to compare performance with some other device.

ATTO Disk Benchmark

atto

As a reminder, Lexar is declaring up to 100MB/s read and up to 55MB/s write bandwidth. ATTO is showing better than expected read transfers which is up to 109MB/s and slightly lower than declared write transfers up to 54MB/s. I’ve checked it couple of times and results were not much different in every test pass.

CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 x64

cdm

CrystalDiskMark is showing similar performance in sequential read while writes are lower. All depends from used files and test pattern but in general it still looks good.

AS SSD Benchmark

asssd

We are rarely using AS SSD for flash drive tests as it takes lot of time and is stressing drives much more than in regular work. However since Lexar JumpDrive S33 passed AS SSD then we are sure that there are no issues with stability during long work.

Sequential read bandwidth is again great while read could be better. One thing worth to mention is that random 4K tests are better than on even best HDD that we can find in the desktop PCs.

Anvil’s Storage Utilities

Anvil’s benchmark is showing sequential and random bandwidth but we can also compare access time to data and IOPS ( Input-Output operations per second ).

This test is once again showing us high read transfers that are above values declared by Lexar but at the same time writes are lower than we could expect. I already mentioned it’s caused by different data file sizes used in tests. As we could see in ATTO, optimal performance for this device will be at 16-32MB files so sizes more popular in photography.
