The Box and Packaging
The packaging is fairly simple and contains a warranty leaflet, 1 x USB Type-C to C cable, and the SL500 portable SSD.

The build quality is excellent and feels really soild in the hand. The SSD is about the size of a credit card measuring only 85mm x 54mm x 7.8mm (the thinnest part is 4.8mm), and weighing in at only 43g.
There’s a tiny blue LED near the USB-C port on the SSD. This lights up when there is activity on the drive.
We connected the LExar SL500 to our laptop which only has the slower USB 3.2 Gen1 interface. It works fine, but maximum read/write speed only reached 1000MB/sec.
We also tried the SSD on an Android tablet. It also works fine provided that you have device with Andriod OS 4.4 or higher.
We didn’t have an iPhone 15 on hand to test the Lexar SL500, but according to Lexar you can record Pro Res 4K video @ 60FPS directly to the drive, using your iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
