The ZX20 portable SSD is rated up to 2GB/s, about as much as we can reach on the USB 3.2 Gen2x2. The SSD is also backward compatible with older or slower USB standards, but we have to remember that the performance will be worse.
The ZX20 SSD arrived in perfect condition. CrystalDiskInfo shows the SSD is brand new without SMART errors or used cells.
The firmware was also the latest one when we received the SSD, but it’s not really important as there are no issues.
The idle temperature is around 40°C, which is the internal temperature, and it’s expected. We can expect between 50-55°C during load, as you can see on the screenshot below, which was taken after multiple tests.
There is no throttling or any other issues related to the temperature, and the type of enclosure separates us from the heating-up components, so we won’t feel the high temperature if we hide the SSD inside the pants pocket just after copying a large amount of data.
On the next page, we will examine the SSD and the package contents.
