Conclusion
I’m pleasantly surprised how well the ZX20 performed. It’s my first Netac review, and I’m delighted with the product. There were no problems during tests; we can easily compare it with the best competitive portable SSD. The main difference is that the competition costs more.
The SSD could pass the declared maximum bandwidth with up to 2132MB/s, which is more than expected for a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 SSD. Also, random bandwidth results are pretty high for a USB SSD. I’m sure no one will complain about the performance of this SSD.
The Netac ZX20 1TB Portable SSD costs around $84.99 in the Amazon store. As mentioned, it’s one of the least expensive USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 SSDs. For a competitive SSD that can match its performance, we have to pay at least $25 more. I only wish this SSD was available at a higher capacity as 1TB is not so much nowadays, and I’m sure a 2TB or 4TB version would sell well. This is probably the only disadvantage of the ZX20 I could find.
The SSD comes with a set of USB A and C cables and a little pouch. We won’t need anything else to use it. Natec also gives a 3-year warranty for the ZX20 series SSD, which is pretty long for a portable SSD.
Final words:
The ZX20 is a well-designed portable SSD from Netac. I’m glad we have started our adventure with such a successful product from this brand. It’s not hard to notice that the ZX20 is one of the best portable SSDs on the market. It’s fast, it’s small and light-weight and is covered by an extended warranty. What’s even more important for most users is that it’s inexpensive. It’s the perfect mix of performance, features and price, that will convince even the most demanding users.
