A Photo Tour of the Drive and Box
We’ll start with the box as always. It is a very unassuming affair as you’ll see.
Inside the box, we find…. A box!
Inside that box is a slide out tray sort of box! That box finally has the drive in it, along with a driver CD and a bragging sticker. I certainly hope this thing is faster than a mechanical HDD!
Before you take the drive out of the anti-static bag, think about the lack of a casing on it and its vulnerability to static, you do not want to roast your brand new high speed SSD by being careless with it!
Lacking a static-free workstation, the usual anti-static precautions should work fine for you.
With that out of the way, we’ll look at the drive itself!
If it reminds you of the RevoDrive 3 120GB I reviewed there is good reason for that, it’s the same base PCB! There is an extra connector and a second layer of flash chips as well as an additional two controllers.
The two halves screw together and are still thin enough to fit well within a single slot.
The overbrain of this operation is under a glued on heatsink, being glued on I did not remove it to see what was underneath, but I imagine it’s the same as the first RevoDrive 3 I reviewed.
