The drive seems perfectly fine. There are no SMART errors, and its condition is 100%, just as expected. The screenshot below shows the state of our P400 SSD.

The drive’s temperature is relatively high during load. In idle, we can see about 45-55°C. During load, it goes past 70°C, so I recommend a good airflow in the case or use of an additional heatsink if your motherboard is equipped with such. As long as our P400 SSD wasn’t throttling often, then during long tests, we could see a slightly decreased performance. It wasn’t significant, and I doubt that anyone would see that daily, but it’s still worth mentioning.

Package and its Contents

The P400 SSD arrived in a retail package that is similar to that of other Patriot products. In the package, we will find the SSD and nothing else. On the other hand, we don’t need anything else as the installation is pretty straightforward and doesn’t require anything additional.

We can find a general specification of the drive and support contact on the package. There is also mentioned a 3-year warranty. Again, there is everything that we may need.

The drive supports PCIe 4.0 x4 bus, but the maximum bandwidth is about 5000MB/s. We could see slightly higher bandwidth in tests, but it’s not reaching anything close to the top Patriot Viper SSD series that can pass 7000MB/s. The maximum sequential bandwidth is not always the most important as most operations in our computers are random. This is where the P400 SSD performs surprisingly well, considering it’s a lower series SSD. Our results show that clearly on the next page of this review.

The P400 itself looks not much different than most other M.2 SSD. It shares the same size and is about the same weight. It can also be installed on all modern laptops or desktops without problems.

Now it’s time for some performance tests. Let’s move to the next page.
