Conclusion and Verdict
Patriot PXD is clearly the best portable SSD I had a chance to review. It’s small, light and what’s the most important, it’s lightning-fast. The drive reaches maximum possible bandwidth for the USB interface and provides amazing random bandwidth results. Even the most demanding users shouldn’t complain.
Robust, durable design is also something worth mentioning. The drive is made of aluminum and is quite small. We won’t have problems carrying it with us and 1TB capacity let us take pretty much everything we may need. If not, then there is also a 2TB version of this drive that makes it one of not many portable SSD with 2TB maximum capacity.
Patriot PXD is covered by a 3-year warranty. It’s quite long for external storage. Usually, only the highest series have more than two years.
The Patriot PXD 1TB Portable SSD costs around $224 in Patriot online store – click. It’s a new product, so it is still not available in most stores, but soon we should see it on shelves at a probably even lower price. The price itself isn’t low but is absolutely worth the top speed which the PXD offers.
Pros:
- High performance
- Easy to install and configure
- 3-year warranty
- Small and light
- Compatible with multiple platforms
- Reasonable price for all we get
Cons:
- Nothing worth to mention
Final words:
As a long time reviewer, I’ve never been satisfied with the performance of portable SSDs, that’s available on the market. However having said that, all this was about to change with the Patriot PXD. I really like the Patriot PXD … it’s small, compact and durable, it looks great, and of course, it’s exceptionally fast. If we add a three-year warranty, then simply can’t go wrong with this drive.
Patriot PXD 1TB portable SSD is a new king of the hill and receives a well-deserved Editor’s Choice Award!
