Predator GM7000 Heatsink Edition 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD Review

Performance

The performance has been tested on the AMD Ryzen platform, which contains the Ryzen 9 7950X CPU, Gigabyte X870E AORUS Pro ICE motherboard, Predator HERA RGB 32GB DDR5-8000 memory kit, and Colorful RTX4080 Advanced OC graphics card.

All tests were performed in a Windows 11 Pro x64 environment with the latest updates.

As usual, I will start with the ATTO Disk Benchmark. It’s one of the most popular storage benchmarks, and results are easy to compare at home.

The ATTO benchmark usually shows results lower than expected, and this time, we couldn’t see anything close to the maximum declared bandwidth. However, the 6.96GB/s read and 6.24GB/s write are still great results for the PCIe 4.0 SSD.

 

The AMD chipset does not limit us like Intel’s, so we can see over 7.44GB/s! Both read and write results are slightly above the declared. The maximum IOPS is as high as 1300k, precisely as specified.

 

PCMark 10 shows that faster PCIe 4.0 SSDs are available on the market than the GM7000. The results are still not bad, but they are clearly lower than those of the latest series SSDs. However, most of them will cost more than the GM7000. We can also expect a faster SSD from Predator soon.

Blackmagic Design benchmark gives us respectable results. Again, it is not the highest, but it is more than enough as the SSD covers all the video decoding formats.

 

Anvil’s Storage Utilities is an older benchmark but still popular, so why not use it?

The results in this benchmark are high, just not as high as declared in the SSD specification. This is not a problem, as every benchmark uses a different test pattern and test files.

 

The last test is AIDA64, which shows us the performance based on random operations divided for reading and writing. These tests take about 30 minutes each on the 2TB SSD, so they are quite demanding.

Both tests show a typical random read and write bandwidth for a higher series PCIe 4.0 SSD.

The refreshed version of the GM7000 SSD shows that it still delivers good performance and has additional features that make it an interesting option.
