The A65B isn’t very small, but its size is just right to easily carry it with us wherever we go.
The A65B has a typical 2.5″ HDD inside the external enclosure. Actually, the used HDD is 2TB WD Blue 5400RPM, so a standard series for home and office usage. For sure, it affects the price, which is around $68, so relatively low for an external HDD. On the other hand, we could count on a faster HDD series.
The temperature is typical for an HDD and is about the same as that of previously reviewed Silicon Power portable HDDs – between 23-45°C, depending on the drive usage.
One quick look at the CrystalDiskInfo to check S.M.A.R.T. status and additional info. Everything is in perfect condition.
Package and its Contents
The A65B arrived in a retail box which is quite small but also contains only the HDD and USB cable. There is nothing more, but nothing else is required. The drive is so simple to use that the manual is not required, and a single USB cable handles both, powering the drive and data transfer.
The drive can be connected to any device which has a USB port, like all kinds of computers, gaming consoles, and everything else that supports external storage and has a USB port. The A65B is backward compatible, but if we use an older generation USB port, then the maximum bandwidth will be limited.
In the specification, we won’t find a maximum bandwidth, but we can’t expect more than the typical 2.5″ HDD can reach, so not much more than 120MB/s. I will tell you some more about the performance on the next page of this review.
The main feature of the A65B is its enclosure. The drive is water-proof and shock-proof within’ IP67 certification. In short, it’s well protected and will resist daily accidents like multiple drops from 1-2m height or getting wet, but there are some limits, so if we care about the stored data, then we better take care of the drive.
The A65B seems simple, but it’s hard not to like it. Even though the enclosure is a mix of plastic and rubber, it looks well and catches the eye. The USB port is protected with a rubber cap, so it should be safe from moisture or mechanical damage.
Let’s move to the next page and some performance tests.
