Silicon Power Stream S07 6TB USB 3.2 HDD Review

Performance

Performance has been tested on the latest Intel Comet Lake-S platform, which contains the i9-10900K processor and SuperO C9Z490-PGW motherboard. All tests were performed in the Windows 10 x64 environment with the latest updates.

Let’s begin with the ATTO Disk Benchmark, which is one of the most popular applications designed to measure storage bandwidth.

ATTO Disk Benchmark is showing us up to 220MB/s read, and 186MB/s write bandwidth. Both results are pretty good for an HDD and even better for USB HDD.

In CrystalDiskMark, read bandwidth results are a bit lower with a maximum of 198MB/s, but at the same time, write bandwidth is higher and reached around 195MB/s. Both results are still exceptional for a USB HDD.

Since the S07 is an external HDD, then results in PCMark 10 are not the best. On the other hand, we won’t run any demanding software from this drive, and most transfers will be sequential, so this result is less important.

Anvil’s Storage Utilities, as usual, is showing us a bit lower bandwidth than the ATTO or CRystalDiskMark. These results are still exceptional.

If anyone is searching for high capacity and fast external HDD, then the S07 from Silicon Power seems like an interesting option. It’s quick for an HDD and runs quietly, so it is perfect for home streaming.
