Conclusion and Verdict
We are already used to the high quality and great performance of Silicon Power storage products. Even though, we can still be surprised with exceptional results, much higher than the specified. The UD90 performs significantly better than we would expect looking at the general product specification. Especially performance in random operations is exceptional. This is of course a great sign for all those who want to save some money or buy more SSD for RAID purposes, but don’t want to sacrifice the performance much. The highest series will be still faster but for many users, it won’t make a significant difference.
The UD90 is not generating much heat so is perfect for laptops and other mobile devices where is limited airflow. Most of the highest NVMe SSD can lose performance because of thermal throttling while the UD90 should keep optimal performance in every small computer.
The UD90 SSD is covered by a five-year warranty. Considering that most (if not all) reviewed by us Silicon Power SSD have such a long warranty, we can already assume is Silicon Power’s standard for NVMe SSD.
The UD90 1TB SSD is supposed to cost $94.99 in the Amazon online store. It’s not listed yet but should appear in the store soon. The price is very reasonable and should be even lower in the next months.
Pros:
- Amazing performance, much higher than the specified
- Easy to install and configure
- Low operating temperature
- Reasonable price
- 5-year warranty
Cons:
- Available only up to 1TB capacity
Final words:
The Silicon Power UD90 1TB NVMe SSD delivers a perfect mix of high performance and high quality at a low price. I’m sure that anyone who decides to buy this SSD, will be more than satisfied. Especially when we expect the specified performance but actually receive much more.
